Abstract: Over the last two decades, the Indian Media and Entertainment sector has grown tremendously. The gates got opened for the foreign market players and investors in India in 1991 by Narasimha government and since then efforts are being made to tap every possible avenue which was missing before 1991. This has brought Indian media an International recognition which in turn has not only increased consumerism in India but has also mediatized life totally. In this short essay I have tried to show briefly the journey and the changing roles of Indian media by analyzing the transitions and transformations in the Indian Media after the economic liberalization.

The direct answer of this debate in relation to India is that there are no laws which serve the implications of media convergence in India but attempts has been made in last two decades to update them. But before proceeding there the first question is what does convergence of media mean? Generally spoken it means the coalescence and melting of traditionally separated communications. The coalescence and melting has two components Converging hardware means the coalescence of different media in a collective output device and converging content which means the simultaneous multiple commercialization. 'Migration' as a political issue has been remained live in the state of Uttarakhand from more than one decade since the state was formed in1999. Migration is a hot topic in present especially it has been mostly debated and discussed by the regional media in newspapers, magazines as well as in social networking groups and sometimes it is touched in the election time by the regional parties. In the social networking websites there are many wall posts related to migration of people from the villages to urban areas, where an empty house, school, hospital or a whole empty village is focused which shows that the pain of widespread out-migration emotionally touches the heart of people. When the state was carved out from Uttar Pradesh it was supposed that after formation, as the rate of development will improve in result the people will wish to stay here and the migration would go down. But as the time passed, the migration issue became more prominent and continues contributing in the hills plain divide.
